Cannabis is a depressant and a mild
hallucinogen. It is one of the most abused
drugs in the Middle East. Marijuana is a
natural substance derived from the Cannabis
Sativa plant. People use it in 3 forms –
Leaves, Resin and Liquid. When used as a
dry plant material it is smoked in the form
of cigarette called joint, marijuana.
Effects
Pleasurable feeling of intense
relaxation and detachment, euphoria,
flashbacks, anxiety and mild paranoia.
Long Term Use
• Psychological dependence can occur with
heavy use.
• Can produce short term memory loss and
lack of concentration.
• May bring about other mental illness such
as schizophrenia as evidence suggests in
vulnerable individuals.
The Law
It is absolutely illegal in the U.A.E. to
possess or use cannabis. In short, there is
zero tolerance for cannabis. Stiff
sentences in case of possession or use. |
