The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) has received immense support from the highest levels of the state, which has enabled it to achieve its objectives and assume a leading position compared with similar institutions both within the region and beyond.

The National Rehabilitation Centre’s mission is to provide the best available treatment for drug addiction disorders and extend specialised rehabilitation services to UAE nationals. For that purpose, the NRC has approved, and carries out, treatment and preventive programmes to help addiction patients to recover and reintegrate into society as good citizens.

This integrated strategy includes a package of programmes of psychological and social support for the patients and their families. This is be achieved through a continuous process of building effective partnerships with similar local, regional and international institutions specialising in the treatment of addiction and prevention, in line with best practices internationally in the field.

The National Rehabilitation Centre was launched in May 2002. It follows clear policies and strict procedures to guarantee the provision of world-class services for UAE nationals who suffer from alcohol and drug addiction disorders. In so doing, the NRC respects the privacy of the patients and follows a code of conduct to protect the information kept in their personal files.

The aims are to facilitate the process of their smooth rehabilitation and re-integration into society, preserve social and family relations and provide suitable employment for recovering patients. The NRC rates highly in terms of achievement, according to international standards in the field of treatment and rehabilitation.

The vision of the National Rehabilitation Centre is to continue to provide the best available treatment for substance abuse disorders in line with the most advanced international practices in the field. The NRC is seeking to build a major database to become a source for specialised studies and research in the field of treatment, rehabilitation, nursing, social and psychological counselling, preventive therapy and education.

This website is open for interactive communication with the wider community, and is intended to promote the culture of prevention against addiction, and educate the community about the dangers and serious consequences of drug and alcohol abuse for the individual, his or her family and society at large.
