Given that prevention is one of the NRC’s main goals, it is very keen on creating awareness among patients and communities alike, as well as providing health education related to addiction, with respect to its causes, ways of treatment, and prevention, since prevention is always better than a cure.
With an objective of inducing demand reduction while encouraging healthy behaviors, health education endeavors at alleviating barriers to treatment which include lack of awareness, accessibility, and social stigma.
The methods employed to generate patient and public awareness include: the publishing of pamphlets, information booklets, and posters; the holding of seminars, public discussions, discussion groups, and health exhibitions; the conducting of field visits; and the use of other means of mass media. These services are offered to the various sectors of society in coordination with the relevant institutions. |
